She initiated the well-respected Arthouse Programme as well as being co-founder of the Whitley Bay Film Festival in North Tyneside since 2010. She has previously exhibited in London, Munich, and across the North of England.

+PlusUD successfully prepared the planning appeal case for Adderstone Property Developments to enable them to win their planning appeal against Gateshead Council’s refusal of consent for a new office scheme at Bottle Bank in Gateshead town centre. The Inspector in allowing Adderstone’s appeal accepted our urban design evidence that there would be no material loss of amenity for the existing residents. In addition the Inspector found no justification for the office scheme having to provide a contribution to the Council’s Quays sustainable transport fund.
+PlusUD have completed the urban design report for a private family trust owned site in Cawthorne South Yorkshire to help their planning consultant Smiths Gore to make the case to Barnsley Council for 70 executive homes as a sustainable extension to the existing village as part of the current housing allocations within the Local Plan.

The Duchy, founded in the 13th century, has a unique portfolio of land, property and assets across England and Wales which are held in trust for the Sovereign in Her Majesty the Queen’s role as Duke of Lancaster.
+Plus UD have been selected by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council in the West Midlands to be included on their Urban Design Professional Support framework for the next two years to assist the Council on a wide range of strategic planning and urban design focussed projects.

Following the independent examination Northampton Central Area Action Plan has been declared sound by the Inspector. This sets out how the centre of Northampton will develop in the period to 2026 and beyond.

Emma is a Chartered Landscape Architect with over 10 years experience including the recent Leeds Bradford Airport Masterplan and is currently Senior Lecturer at Leeds Metropolitan University. +Plus UD have been appointed by Modrec Holdings – a North East based company - to produce a Strategic Residential Masterplan for their land at West Chirton in North Shields Tyne and Wear. The masterplan report will be used for their initial pre-planning engagement with North Tyneside Council.
+Plus UD were part of the RIBA Design Competition Judging Panel for a proposed new Hotel and Leisure development at the Worsley New Hall site in Salford promoted by our clients the Peel Group. The winning architects were Allies Morrison for their imaginative ‘contemporary country house’ scheme combining great sensitivity to the landscape setting. +Plus UD have been retained by Peel to work alongside Allies Morrison as the scheme design is developed for further local stakeholder consultation and pre-planning discussions with Salford City Council.

Working along Ward Hadaway planning consultants our Stage 1 report will help inform the County Council’s current LDF assessment.

+Plus UD were part of Conroy Brook Developments Ltd design team that successfully won planning consent from Kirklees Council at the end of August for a 46 retirement apartment re-development of a derelict mill site in Holmfirth West Yorkshire. We provided strategic client design advisor input from the start of the project including participating at the local consultation event in Holmfirth, supporting the design review process with the independent Integreat Plus Yorkshire service and led on the detailed design negotiations with Kirklees Council culminating in speaking at the Planning Committee. The design team included A+DP architects, DSA planning and Ares landscape design.

North East urban designers celebrate first birthday...
+Plus UD were part of the Royal Mail design team that successfully won planning consent from Northampton Borough Council at the end of July for a major supermarket re-use of the redundant Post Office Sorting Office on the northern edge of the town centre. A year ago the proposal was heading for refusal until +Plus UD were invited by Royal Mail to produce an independent Connections Study to improve pedestrian and cycling links into the heart of Northampton. This involved satisfying the County Council highways team and advising upon the level of S106 contributions to implement the public realm improvements. The team included GL Hearn planning and SKM Colin Buchanan transportation consultants.
+Plus UD Director Tony Wyatt has been re-selected by Design Council Cabe to continue his national advisory role which he first began in 2006. As well as strategic urban design panellist work he will now also provide Enabler support for selected major development and regeneration projects across the country in his new capacity as a Built Environment Expert (BEE).

+Plus UD have been appointed by a private client to provide urban design support for a new housing project in Northumberland. This includes graphic and visual presentation input as well as contributing to the prospective Design and Access Statement as part of the planning application submission.
+Plus UD Director Tony Wyatt was invited to Chair a joint Design Council Cabe and Integreat Plus Yorkshire affiliated Design Review panel in Bradford West Yorkshire. The project is an innovative Resource Recovery Facility to reduce landfill incorporating an energy recovery plant to provide electricity to the National Grid for 20,000 homes and also heat for a future CHP network. The scheme is being jointly promoted by the City of Bradford and neighbouring Calderdale Council and will replace an existing waste transfer station on the eastern edge of Bradford.
+Plus UD were asked by Places Matter! to provide enabling support to the Cleator Moor Town Team in West Cumbria as they develop their blueprint for continuing the regeneration of their town centre including supporting local businesses to provide services for the existing community and new visitors.
+Plus UD were invited to take part in an international masterplanning opportunity in Regina Canada - the provincial capital of Saskatchewan. Our response to the City’s brief for a new place for 10,000 residents was to place the promotion of sustainable urbanism at the heart of our exemplar neighbourhood masterplan.
